Touch FLO is a technology built by HTC on top of Windows Mobile for better navigation and ease of use. This technology was ported to XPERIA by developers from the XDA forum. This means that Touch FLO 3D was available for installing on XPERIA. I took the risk of installing this application on my XPERIA. The CAB file was almost 33MB in size, now that’s huge when compared to the normal installation files in Windows Mobile.

Here are the results, its amazing that the complete Touch FLO technology was created into a CAB file for installation.

It can also be installed as a panel in XPERIA, but for this you will need to install the Touch FLO. The process of installtion is very simple, download the CAB file and install it in your XPERIA. Once installed, go to the Windows Mobile today screen settings, check Touch Flo 3D and uncheck all the other items. If you need it as a panel, you will need to install the 3D panel.

The handset was not available in Mangalore, so had to get it from Kochi. I purchased the XPERIA from Sony Ericsson Experience store in Kochi. The handset is silver in Color and loaded with Windows Mobile Pro 6.1. This is my first handset on Windows platform. So here are few photos of XPERIA unboxing.

Good features XPERIA (only major ones are listed here);

  • 9 Panel display looks amazing with few panels available for download and customizations. Facebook and Windows Live panels are useful.
  • Windows Mobile on touch screen is responsive
  • Great browsing experience with Opera Mobile
  • Good decent camera (3.2 MP)
  • QWERTY Keypad, which is one of the best features, extremely easy to type
  • Excellent build quality, aluminum finish
  • Brilliant screen 800 X 480 resolution.
  • Sufficient amount of RAM for speedy response

Improvement needed;

Any handset is not a perfect one and there is room for improvement for X2.

  • The music experience could have been better and so are the external speakers. The music player can be made Walkman
  • The optical joystick and buttons on the front panel could have had a better design

Overall the experience is great and I give a 9.5/10 for this handset. Now coming to the price, XPERIA is priced at 40000/- INR and this could be on a higher side. But when you consider iPhone at 35k and N96 at 36k, there is no complaint from my side for this handset to be priced at 40k as its loaded with tons of features and customizations.

I recoomend XPERIA for all people looking for a all-in-one smartphone.
