Upgraded to 4GB and 12 Cell Battery- HP DV2000

My HP DV2000 Pavilion Laptop was running on 1GB RAM and it was pretty slow when I used to run 5-6 applications simultaneously (memory consuming applications). I was using triple boot on this machine (Vista Home Premium, Vista Ultimate and Windows 7 RC) and the performance was still good, but it would slow down if I keep the application open for long time. On top of this the battery had worn out and it didn’t charge any more, so it was very difficult to use the Laptop while travelling. I was using my XPERIA while travelling. So two of the upgrades were on my priority list. Once I purchased the Netbook, next thing I did was to upgrade RAM and get a new battery.

Now the Laptop has got a fresh life with 4GB of RAM and a massive 12 Cell Battery. The 12 Cell battery is in fact 2 six cell batteries back to back and as a result it projects out of the Laptop. Here are few images of the 12 Cell Battery.

ASUS EEE PC- My New Netbook

Its been long time since I was planning to get a new Notebook since my HP DV2000 was ageing and needed memory upgrades. Netbooks were getting more and more popular these days and I got this idea of getting a Netbook instead of the Notebook. This new machine is for my wife who will also be blogging. So we decided that Netbook was a better choice. I quickly checked out the reviews of most of the Netbook available and found that ASUS EEE PC was rated as the best, very close the Acer. I decided to get ASUS EEE PC 1000HA model for 21k. Here are specifications and photos of my Netbook.

Overall I’m very much satisfied with the performance and now I’m planning to install Windows 7 home version once it is released along with Windows XP.

Sony Cybershot W220- My New Camera

Its been long time I was planning to get a new digital camera. Well I had only one brand in my mind and it was Sony Cybershot and also the Twitter world agreed to this. I shortlisted the W210, W220 and the T77 models as my primary criteria was handy size and price range of 12-14k. I planned to get this from Dubai as my brother-in-law is working there. After bit of search for low priced models, he settled for Cybershot W220. The camera look awesome, very handy and great quality shots. It features 12.1 MP and a digital zoom apart from other features like smile shutter. Here are some shots including unboxing of W220.

The box also includes the software CD, TV cable, 2GB memory card, one year international warranty and USB cable.

Travelling to Kochi

Well, it was long time since I visited my home town Kochi. When I say long time, its long time according to my standards as I visit Kochi atleast once or twice in a month and this time it was around 2 months or more since I visited. We planned out trip on the second week of March, a weekend and had only 2 days to spend there. We started off our journey from Mangalore on 13th March Fri by Maveli Exp.

The travel through the northern Kerala, also called the Malabar is always exciting as most of the travel is through coastal line with some beautiful beaches and sceneries.

We reached Kochi the next day at 02:30 AM. On Saturday we visited the newly opened Oberon Mall which is the largest mall opened in Kerala. The multiplex at Oberon was not yet complete although most of the shops are open. We had our dinner from the food court in Oberon.

We returned back to Mangalore next day and it was a short break from work and was refreshing travel in all ways.

Zune 8GB Unpacking Photos

Today I received the Zune 8GB which I had ordered from the Microsoft eCompany store. This was shipped to me free of cost as a part of Microsoft MVP Program. This was delivered to me by FedEx International Priority shipping. So here are the photos of unpacking my Zune 8GB.
