Review- Pattanathil Bootham (Malayalam Film)
Generally I’m not a movie reviewer, but I watch a lot of movies and only have the habbit of reviewing it with my wife and friends. But the recent movie which I watched, Pattanathil Bootam, made me a reviewer for many reasons. This movie is one of the latest movies from the Malayalam superstar Mammoty. The movie name in English mean “Ghost in City”. Well, when I heard the name for first time, I thought it might be a comdy movie with some characters which might resemble the ghost, but I was totally wrong.

The film starts off with the brief introduction of the characters and from the first 10 min, we can easily predict who the actual villains are. The story is easily predictable and goes in direction where there is a real ghost (Mammoty in double role) which is friendly and being kept in a bottle. At this point the film starts to become boring and to add to this some worst jokes and the voice of Ghost becomes so irritating. Siraj Venjaramoodu is the only character which atleast tries to make the movie a bit interesting with his jokes, but there is no script in place for this comedy to get more attention.
The Ghost was pretty managable in the movie if you consider it as a timepass movie, but the graphics where the ghost saves the heroine dates back to 80s. In this era where technology take a peep into every aspect of our life, this movies lacks it. There is scene where hero tries some circus on horse and the morphing of his face was done so badly that the face and body movements were totally out of sync.
The script is very very weak and the story is easily predictable and totally unrealistic. In the first places, I couldnt even imagine how Mammoty could take up such a bad film. The director Johny Antony who is famous for comedy films like CID Moosa, fails to deliver with this movie. This is one movie which Keralites would like to easily forget.
On the songs side, there are only 2 songs and both of them are just OK, nothing to write about. Heroine Kavya is totally wasted and if she wasnt there in the movie, it wouldnt have made any difference. Some of the jokes are very bad that I was tempted to leave the theatre.
Rating: 0.5/5 (The 0.5 is to give atleast some point for Siraj Venjaramoodu’s comedy)
